Psalm 8: 1-2
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
Yesterday at church the praise of children was loud and proud. The Lord loves the praise of little ones. He doesn't care if it is polished and professional. He loves their pure heart.
I heard a story the other day that is absolutely awesome! A mother of one our little ones at church received a call from her babysitter that her son had spoken something mean to his friend. He said "I will dig a hole and throw you in it." The babysitter thought that was very descriptive for a 2 year old. She scolded the child who in turn responded by saying " I am jealous and mad."
When mom picked up the child the babysitter explained what happened and the mom started laughing. She told the babysitter that at church they talked about Joseph and his brothers. The babysitter laughed!
You never know when little children are listening! Just because they are up and moving and not sitting doesn't mean they aren't comprehending! Later that night, the child was complaining that he was afraid of the dark in his room. The mom asked him if Joseph was afraid when he was in the hole. The mom and child prayed together that God would help them not to be afraid of the dark. The child said: "God, please turn the light on in the hole!" Isn't that profound???
Don't lose heart in teaching your child the love of Jesus. They may get the story jumbled up now, but later on, that story will draw them one step closer to Jesus! Isn't that what it's all about?
